Extended Rear Facing

Miles will be 2 next week. We still have him rear facing in his Britax Roundabout. He's about 34 inches tall and last check weighed about 30 pounds. (the limit is 32/33 lbs) I've been thinking a lot lately about turning him forward. I know it's safer to stay RF and would happily keep him that way until he's 5! I wish we could afford to get the Swedish Britax seats - but at $600, it's just not in the budget.

My turmoil is from thinking it's harmful for him to stay RF if he's over the weight limit. We don't have a scale at home, so he hasn't been weighed since the Dr. He's getting taller and not heavier...so I hadn't really stressed about it until now.

I know the simple answer is to weigh him and then make a final decision.

Have any of you left your kids RF past the gov't requirement of 1yr/20 lbs? When did you decide it was time to switch to FF?

2nd Birthday Shirt

Next time, I'll hand stitch the tag. Maybe I'll still do this one that way... Time will tell! :) I still love it though!!

Kaya's Quiet Book

When we traveled to Florida in May, Linda gave Miles a Quiet Book. It was made in 1980! Thinking we've got 2 kiddos turning ONE this summer... I thought a Quiet Book would be the perfect gift for them. Here is the one I made for Kaya. Her party is today... I hope she likes it!

You can't really see the words... I think I'll do something different on the second one for the front.

It says... My Quiet aBook is lots of fun. I turn the pages one by one.
The windows and doors on the house open.

Buttons for the centers of the flowers.

String the Rings... and the ABC's

Count the Balloons!

Match the Shapes (snaps) and Zip up and down

Put on a mitten and Tie a bow

Build the Blocks (velcro) and Peek A Boo -- there's a pretend mirror behind the hands.

On an unrelated note... guess what my super sweet son told me this morning?
"You're so pretty mommy!"
He said it while patting me on the back!! HA!
How do they learn these things? I can't believe he'll be two in just a week and a half. Where does the time go?

Today

FOR TODAY

June 22nd, 2009

Outside my window... it's too hot to take a Milesy out to play

I am thinking... about the prospecting calls I need to make.

I am thankful for... being able to say how I feel and the husband to "get it"

From the kitchen... Bean and sausage enchiladas... our weekly "easy" dinner

I am wearing...shorts & a tshirt

I am creating... an ad for work and am finishing up a Quiet Book for my cousin's daughter's 1st bday.

I am going... to the River the end of next week and am SO looking forward to the break!

I am reading...nothing! I've been trying to get a book from the library so I can join a local book club... but everyone else in town must've had the same idea!

I am hoping... that our advertising efforts for hubby will pay off.

I am hearing... Bob the Builder and the washing machine

Around the house...are scattered toys and dust bunnies - I hope hubs remembers to sweep.

One of my favorite things... Miles running with all he's worth to beat me to the bed when it's diaper change time. He laughs and laughs when I catch him just as he leaps onto the bed.

A few plans for the rest of the week...work, sewing, cooking, getting ready for our trip next week.

A picture to share...

A Biscuit Makin' Mama!

My husband LOVES scratch biscuits. Although I'm usually quite capable in the kitchen, these were something I feared! I could make a decent drop biscuit, but when it came to making the cut out kind I would tremble! :)

The dough and the floured surface. EEEEK!

After a few days at my Gran's last month, I watched and took mental notes and had it in my plans to buy a biscuit cutter. She beat me to it. Last week my mother brought me the biscuit cutting set Gran bought for me! I knew once hubby saw these he'd be requesting those round doughy terrors soon enough.

The snazzy biscuit cutter -- doing it's thing.

Today was the day. He tricked the little one into making the formal request. I can't tell that boy "no" sometimes! ;)
They look normal...right?

Now the true test....

A smile AND a thumbs up = BIG HOORAY! :)

Clutch and Clutch

I made both of these in just over an hour last night! Sending off to twin girls. Learned of them through Spirit Jump. I'm SO glad I'm getting back into the sewing room lately! Lots of creativity swimming around in the ol' brain that needs OUT! :)
